Quick answer
Aqua Mania Adventures is a boat tour agency operating from Billy Folly Road in Simpson Bay, Sint Maarten, specializing in catamaran tours to nearby destinations. The company has established a strong reputation with an impressive Google rating of 4.6 stars based on 302 reviews, reflecting a generally positive customer experience across their various offerings. Their fleet includes notable vessels such as the Lambada and Santino, which are used for different tour packages including around-the-island excursions and trips to Anguilla and Pickly Pearl. Despite this positive rating, the company has faced some criticism regarding crew attentiveness and communication about sea conditions, which has resulted in occasional negative reviews from customers who felt their safety or service expectations were not fully met. The tour agency offers a range of experiences that typically include stops at beautiful locations like Meads Bay, Shoal Bay, and prime snorkeling spots. According to customer feedback, their tours often feature onboard dining with meals described as "super bon" (excellent), along with complimentary drinks and snacks provided by the crew. The company appears to cater well to families, with multiple reviews highlighting their exceptional service to children and the patience shown by staff members. However, there is some inconsistency in the quality of service between different crews, as evidenced by reviews praising some captains and crew members while criticizing others for being unresponsive or distracted during tours. GUEST EXPERIENCE: Guest experiences at Aqua Mania Adventures appear to be highly polarized, with many customers reporting exceptional service and memorable experiences while others have encountered significant issues with crew attentiveness and safety communication. The positive reviews frequently highlight the kindness and professionalism of specific crew members, with one reviewer mentioning captain Roy and first mate Noah as "amazing" for their attentiveness in ensuring guests had drinks, snacks, and guidance to the best snorkeling spots. Families, in particular, have praised the crew's patience and helpfulness with children, creating an environment where both adults and young visitors can fully enjoy the day trip. The quality of the onboard dining experience has also been consistently commended, with multiple reviews describing the food as excellent and the overall service as "hors pair" (outstanding). Conversely, some guests have had markedly different experiences, particularly regarding crew engagement and safety communication. One reviewer noted feeling ignored by the captain who seemed "put off to answer" questions and was observed being on his phone rather than attending to guests. Safety concerns have also been raised, with at least one customer reporting that they were not informed about extremely rough water conditions (10-foot waves) until after boarding, which left them feeling unsafe during the tour. This lack of prior communication about challenging sea conditions appears to be a recurring issue for some customers, who indicated they would have requested a refund had they been properly warned. Despite these negative experiences, the company maintains a high overall rating, suggesting that the majority of customers have positive interactions, particularly when served by their most attentive and professional crew members.
In their own words
“Third time on Lambada yesterday. First time with this crew. Tried to engage with captain a few times and he seemed put off to answer. Sat back there by him to smoke and he was on his phone. Asked him questions like mast height, why don’t any tours go to Shoal Bay anymore, where is the ashtray? One word answers. Realized at the last stop at Meads Bay he had a one track mind, and that was on one particular guest. Weird . A couple of the guys on crew were friendly. Asked one to show me Trumps place. Engaged with another about sailing as I once was a liveaboard sailor and he seemed interested… for a minute. But gosh. it was my birthday. As it was a couple other peoples on board, I found out. Not because Cap said anything, because he didn’t, even though I did mention it upon check in, cuz that’s just who I am. Thinking maybe I’d get a song, first off boat, first in line for food…. I dunno. But NO! Just quick retorts all day. Hubby had to ask them twice to turn the tunes on. Never had to do that with other crews. They were on the ball. No music during lunch. Just odd. Hubs tried also to be friendly and I sat and watched them say things to him that just were not nice. He had a few rum punches! I can’t recall exactly but it irked me then and obviously still does. I was sitting behind the bar to the left by stairs so I had all day to watch their demeanor w guests and it just wasn’t like in the past. Never did we have to stand in a long line like that in the morning. for check in, so not sure when that started. Hubby seems to think we did,but he doesn’t remember going to Sandy Ground either on Lambada years ago. Hubby thinks there just were a lot more people this time. More than past trips. Maybe we were just later arriving the last couple times so there wasn’t a line, I dunno. First time we ate on board. On past cruises it was served on land. Seemed we spent more time on the boat this time, than on the gorgeous beaches, and this time we were told not to use the loungers on the beach on Meads Bay which meant everyone basically just noodle floated by the boat rather than going to shore. Not us. We swam and walked, then swam back. First time to Meads Bay for us. Second or third time to Prickly Pear. No dancing this cruise. You would of thought with the ages of most on board, there would’ve been more energy. Last ten minutes when they played the good songs people started letting loose. . Still, we tipped them of course, but I think I’m done with Lambada. Maybe we will go do the private sailboat trip route again. Smile. Be happy! Play good tunes! Engage w people that are trying to be friendly. Don’t be on your phones at work Oh and I didn’t enjoy the five boats at Prickly pPear that pulled up to shore to drop off people. It filled up fast and it just got busy. Wasn’t as serene as in the past. Progress I guess”
“I recently did the around the island tour on 6.23/26. We were not informed by the office staff that the water would be extremely rough. We were hitting 10 foot waves with this 38 ft boat. I felt very unsafe. Had we been informed before we got on the boat, we would have requested a refund. We were not told until about 15 minutes after being on the boat that the seas were very rough. The ride would be bumpy. Extremely bumpy! My sciatica was killing me. Before we left it started to rain then again while at Creole Rock it started raining again and became very windy with rough seas. I did not feel safe getting in the water to snorkel. Update: The manager understood my issue and will allow us a credit to use next year. If doing Santino I suggest asking about the wave height and sea conditions when you get there.”
“Superbe journée sur l’eau. Catamaran Lambada pour Anguilla et Pickly Pearl. L’équipage était d’une gentillesse exceptionnelle. Le services était hors pair. Le dîner était super bon. Une journée mémorable. Apportez-vous de la crème car le soleil est brutal!”
“Great catamaran day trip. The water at both stops was crystal clear. Great luck provided on board. The crew was excellent and really helpful with our little kids. Very patient and kind throughout the whole experience.”
