Quick answer

Blanchards is a well-established dining destination located in Meads Bay, Anguilla, operating as both a restaurant and a beach shack. With an impressive Google rating of 4.7 from 587 reviews, this venue has built a reputation as an Anguilla institution since its founding in 1994. The business offers a dual experience with its formal restaurant section and more casual beach shack, providing options for different dining preferences and occasions. The establishment is particularly known for its beachfront location, allowing guests to combine dining with beach activities, though there appears to be some inconsistency in operating hours between the two sections based on guest experiences. The menu at Blanchards features a variety of dishes including burgers, chicken tenders, cheesesteaks, and fries, with many reviewers praising the food for being flavorful and cooked to perfection. The beach shack specifically offers beach chair rentals at $5 each, making it a convenient spot for tourists looking to enjoy the calm waters of Meads Bay while having access to food and beverage service. Despite its popularity and long history, the establishment has faced some criticism regarding pricing discrepancies and service inconsistencies, particularly between its restaurant and beach shack operations, which has impacted guest satisfaction in certain instances. GUEST EXPERIENCE: Guests at Blanchards generally report a positive and vibrant atmosphere, with many describing the establishment as a fun spot for a day at the beach with good food. The formal restaurant section is frequently praised for its warm and welcoming environment, where staff are highlighted as super friendly, attentive, and well-trained, providing what some consider world-class service. Notably, the team has been recognized for going above and beyond for special occasions, such as when celebrating a birthday, which contributes to the venue's reputation as more than just a dining establishment but rather a memorable experience destination. However, the experience varies significantly between the restaurant and beach shack, with some guests reporting issues with the latter. The beach shack has been criticized for menu inaccuracies, particularly regarding beverage pricing where a small water was listed at $2.15 but charged at $3.05 or $3.29 on the receipt. Service speed and attention to detail appear to be inconsistent, with one guest waiting over an hour for food to arrive and experiencing issues with side dishes being served after the main course and improper communication about allergen information regarding shellfish and lobster oil. Despite these shortcomings, many visitors still recommend the location, suggesting that going early can enhance the overall experience.

In their own words

Blanchards isn't just a restaurant—it's an Anguilla institution, and it's easy to see why! It's been around since 1994. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is warm and vibrant. The team is absolutely incredible. The staff who served us were super friendly, attentive, and so well-trained that the service feels truly world-class. I was celebrating a birthday, and they went above and beyond to make the evening feel extra special. Every thoughtful touch made us feel celebrated and completely spoiled. If you only order one thing, make it the Anguilla crayfish. Perfectly grilled, incredibly fresh, and packed with flavor with parmesan roasted potatoes, and carrot puree. It's the kind of dish you'll be dreaming about long after your vacation ends. A huge thank you to the entire Blanchards team for creating such a memorable birthday celebration. They even printed Happy Birthday with my name on it! How cute is that? We'll be talking about this night for a long time!

I walked down the road from my hotel to enjoy the restaurant section but it wasn’t open. I had to walk next door to the shack. The menu says $2.15 for a small water. I look at my receipt & it’s $3.05. I told her what the menu said. She said it’s actually $3.29 has to be changed. She offered me a refund. I refuse to pay $3.29 for a small water. I ordered a vodka lemonade & they put it in a tiny cup. I noticed others have larger cups. Also why are we being charged an 8% service charge if we aren’t being served? You have to order at a window, wait for it, walk back up to get it & find a table. Is it because you’re trying to get extra money from tourists?

What a great spot to grab some beach chairs ($5 each), enjoy the calm waters of Meads Bay, and have a flavorful lunch at the Beach Shack. After spending a couple of hours in the water, we had some burgers, chicken tenders, cheesesteak, and fries. Everything was so tasty and cooked to perfection. It’s hard to pick a favorite but I’d give a slight edge to the cheesesteak. The food was served extremely quickly given the number of people we saw in line both before and after us. Blanchards has their stuff together and made the day perfect!

Took over an hour for food to arrive. Shrimp was over seasoned. Didn’t bring out the broccoli salad until we were done with the meal. We have a shellfish allergy that they were aware of and didn’t mention the dates were fried in lobster oil until after they were already eaten.
