Gwen's Reggae Bar and Grill distinguishes itself through its commitment to quality ingredients and traditional preparation methods, as evidenced by the husband of the owner who crafts his own charcoal for grilling. This attention to detail results in divine flavors that are frequently highlighted in guest reviews, particularly for their grilled red snapper, BBQ chicken, and especially their ribs, which many consider to be among the best on the island. The restaurant's beverage program is equally noteworthy, with Gwen's world-famous rum punch and Painkillers receiving consistent acclaim for their potency and delicious taste. In their own words
“Gwen's is a must visit. We walked from Zemi beach house and had a delicious lunch. We had Gwen's rum punch which you have to order and it sure had a lot of rum. My daughters enjoyed great smoothies. The grilled red snapper was delicious and the chicken legs with the hot sauce was really good. Ribs and other chicken options were not available at the time but we really enjoyed our meal. Beach chairs and umbrellas available with a beautiful view of the famous Shoal Bay Beach. They have very good prices for the food and drinks. Live music Thursday and Sundays.”
“Sunday scratch live music is a must see. Fun band playing mostly reggae and island music. Food offering is pretty common to most of the restaurants on the island. The band played until a little after 7p with sunset at 6:49p. Surprised more people weren't there. Fun time. Fun crowd. Fun band. Drinks are generally overpriced at $15-20 each but good. Note that 15-18% gratuity is added at all meals on the entire island.”
