Quick answer

Tipsy Turtle is a family restaurant situated at 5VF4+74, Long Bay Village 2640, Anguilla, which has established a mixed reputation among visitors with a Google rating of 4.5 stars from 104 reviews. The establishment appears to have undergone changes in ownership and management in recent years, with multiple references to a previous owner named Jason Chapman who reportedly created a unique atmosphere that some patrons feel is now missing. The restaurant operates as an open-air venue, allowing stray cats to move freely through the dining area, which has been noted as both a positive and negative aspect of the guest experience depending on individual preferences. Despite these inconsistencies, Tipsy Turtle maintains a strong presence in the local dining scene, offering a casual environment that appeals to both families and groups of friends looking for a relaxed meal or drinks while watching sports events. The restaurant's menu appears to be quite diverse, featuring an extensive sushi selection that has been praised for its freshness and taste alongside Caribbean favorites like calamari and fried dumplings. Multiple reviews specifically highlight the quality of the food as a standout feature, with several guests ranking it among their top dining experiences in Anguilla. The establishment has also positioned itself as a sports-friendly venue, with references to showing World Cup games and other sporting events, though at least one reviewer noted the absence of live sports during their visit. The atmosphere is generally described as fun and casual, with 80s music contributing to the lively ambiance that some guests particularly enjoyed during their visits. GUEST EXPERIENCE: Guest experiences at Tipsy Turtle appear to be quite polarized, with reviews ranging from highly positive to strongly negative, though the majority seem to lean toward the positive side given the overall 4.5-star rating. Many patrons praise the food quality and service, with multiple reviews specifically mentioning excellent calamari, fried dumplings, and an extensive, fresh sushi menu that ranks among the best in Anguilla for some visitors. The service is frequently described as "top notch" and "outstanding" by satisfied customers, with particular mention of the entire team providing attentive service and welcoming guests eagerly when reservations are made in advance. However, other reviews note inconsistent service, with instances of staff seeming to avoid taking orders and slow service times that detracted from the overall experience. The restaurant's atmosphere is generally characterized as casual, fun, and relaxed, making it suitable for both families and groups of friends. Several guests enjoyed the 80s music playing during their visits, though one reviewer expressed disappointment that there were no live sports on the televisions despite expecting them. The presence of stray cats moving through the open-air dining area has been a point of contention among guests, with some finding it off-putting while others didn't seem to mind this aspect. The ownership transition appears to have impacted the establishment's vibe, with at least one German-speaking reviewer noting that the previous owner, Mr. Chapman, had created a special atmosphere that was missing during their visit, suggesting the establishment may have lost some of its unique charm since the change in management.

In their own words

During my stay in Anguilla, I visited Tipsy Turtle once with a group of friends. While we had a fairly average experience, I still think it’s worth mentioning for what it offers. The service was inconsistent, at times, staff seemed to avoid taking our order, and overall, service was very slow. That said, the atmosphere is casual and fun, making it a relaxed spot to enjoy drinks or catch a game with friends. Culturally, the restaurant has its charm, offering a local and laid-back vibe with decent food. While our visit didn’t fully impress in terms of service, it could be a nice spot for those looking for a low-key place to hang out, enjoy a meal, or watch sports in a casual setting.

Wow! The food is great! We called ahead and they were eagerly awaiting us with a prime table. Service was top notch with the whole team waiting on us. And the food was our Top 3 in Anguilla. Calamari and fried dumplings were prepared perfectly. The sushi menu is extensive, fresh and tasty. Although there were no live sports on their tvs, they were rocking out to the 80’s. So much fun. Highly recommended for a relaxed dinner.

Schade

Food and service were awesome. My only issue were with the stray cats looking to grab crumbs as we ate. Its an open restaurant and bar so they allow the strays to come and go as they please
